Entertainment Committee Report: Next event is October 2nd, rain date is October 9th. Meet at park at 6:30pm and begin bike ride at 7:00pm. Decorate your bikes with lights, ages 10 and up are invited. If you’re under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Event flyer will be delivered in September. This event has been cancelled.
Old Business:
The bulkhead at the community beach seems to be getting worse. It looks like it is bowing out more than it was in the past. Scott will put a few pylons in to reinforce the front of the bulkhead when time and conditions permit.
The tree at the park was trimmed, Dead branches removed.
No private community/no trespassing signs were installed at neighborhood entrance. A resident did approach the people installing the signs and voiced his objections. He was told the signs were approved at the last meeting.
New Business:
Discussed the insurance increase. We will call State Farm to see if there’s any way the rate can stay the same, if not, call other insurance companies for rates. Will discuss at next meeting.
The grass at 1815 Cremen was cut. The barge that is in the water at this location is damaging a neighbors pier. He will try to contact the homeowner.
Fran Pierzchalski mentioned paving going on in Belhaven. The material that is being used is Tar chip. Isn’t as good as the material that was used during past road work. Fran has called the County asking questions but hasn’t heard back from everyone. Rob Lowe will call the county and try to get additional information
People are leaving toys in the park and digging around one of the trees. Rob spoke to some of the parents and asked the kids to stop digging and to clean up after themselves. Toys left lying around might be placed in the recycle bin. If you’re missing something, please check the bins.
Park equipment was originally installed per County Safety specifications. The equipment was painted approximately 2 years ago. Will repaint during the spring cleanup.
At a past meeting $1800 was approved to spend on a new lawnmower. Our current mower is not working 100%. It is running at ½ speed. There was only 1 mower at Lowes in that price range, will continue to look for a deal and use the existing mower as long as possible.
Break In’s/Vandalism – Please watch out for your neighbors and your neighbor’s property.
Speeding Cars – Still a problem. Please slow down. Be aware of Children at play!!!!

Rockwood Beach Community Improvements
________________________________________________________
Getting More Done.
The community came together once again for more improvements. This time it was to install bumpers on the front of the new pilings to protect boats from damage when bumping into the piles. There has also been a community committee formed to submit to the association plans for future repairs and improvements to the bulkhead on the beach side of the park.
________________________________________________________
Another Big Leap Forward.
Even with the ice and snow the new piles were driven in front of the bulkhead to prevent any further damage from backwash and erosion from storms.
With the piles in front and in back the deck and bulkhead is now locked between the two and should be double secure for many years to come.
The four poles on the outside were also removed, realigned and reinstalled in the correct places for a future project. Now the ramp will be wider and no longer have an awkward angle when backing down it.

New Garden Shed
With a new base for it to sit on everything should stay high and dry.

Park and boat ramp improvements.
With the rear support poles in the new walkways are now installed. These improvements should make it so the Rockwood Beach residents will be able to enjoy the park and access to the waterfront and boat ramp for many years to come.

Summer Project.
Community gathers to find and remove large poured concrete obstructions and install the donated rear support poles for the future park walkway. Another step in the long term improvement plan for the Rockwood Beach community public areas.

New Swings!
The community association is continuing their improvements by installing new swings in the community park.

Bulkhead Improvements
Vinyl sheet piles with pressure treated wood frames to replace the collapsed bulkhead. Old debris removed and then backfilled and graded with clean fill. This process was also repeated on the beach side of the park.

You're never stuck living just off a Snow Emergency Route.
And with neighbor helping neighbor.
Just four hours after being hit with a 30 inch blizzard you can see pavement.

The Blue Jays in numbers are now year round residents competing with the squirrels for handouts. The diversity of birds grows every year and it's nice to see their return.
Shorty (due to her tail) is hiding her stash from the Blue Jays.
They are always watching.
A first year squirrel's first encounter with a turtle.
Lots of deer just hanging out all summer.
The ducks have returned again this year to raise offspring.
A sump pump bird bath is a great place to cool off on a hot day.

A friendly Bluejay has made Rockwood Beach it's temporary home.
When we say friendly we mean it has no issue walking right up to you and jumping on your shoe.
